      About Greg Veal

Greg has more than twenty-five years experience on the IBM System/38 through System i platforms.  During his career, Greg has participated in and managed all facets of the application development life cycle. 


Greg holds two professional certifications: the CSP (Certified Systems Professional) certification from ICCP (Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals) and the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI (Project Management Institute).

As a professional Instructor/Trainer, Greg has taught System i subjects including RPG and CL programming, SQL, Sequel(TM), Work Management and Performance Tuning, Security, and Application and Database Design.

As an author and technical editor for Midrange Magazine, Greg published numerous articles pertaining to AS/400 programming and system management. Greg also authored
the popular text, CL Programming for the AS/400.  

Greg has lectured widely in the US and Australia on many aspects of AS/400 through System i application development and management.  He is a staff speaker for RPG World Developers’ Conference and has been a regular speaker at both the national COMMON conferences and COMMON Regional Events since 1983.

A 20-year COMMON volunteer and recipient of the COMMON Distinguished Service award, Greg also served on COMMON's Strategic Education Team and played a vital role in developing the Education Strategic Plan that is currently revitalizing COMMON. 



Additionally, Greg served for three years as COMMON's Subject Matter Expert for the Business Intelligence and Database course of study.


As a System i consultant, Greg has worked on innumerable projects for many of Northeast Ohio’s manufacturing and distribution companies both developing complete custom applications and modifying and interfacing to most of the major, packaged application suites.
